EV Obsession

While browsing the social media site, one video caught my attention. It was regarding one of the issues closer to my heart. I immediately shared that video on my page as I felt this should be reached to the maximum people, you never know it might give that one person food for the thought to bring a new technology that could solve the crisis of fossil fuels, global warming & other related issues.  After sharing that video, another thought captivated me that mere sharing of the video is not sufficient at least I should supplement this with the power of words. As it is rightly said (Sam Veda) – “Beautifully crafted words have the power to captivate the mind of anybody”. Yesterday itself I sensed the power of the words when our prime minister was representing India in front of the world and NRI diaspora in Copenhagen (Denmark) during his three country (Germany, Denmark, and France) visit. He mentioned India’s remarkable progress in start-up ecosystem and reaching it to no. 3 position in the world. It was not captured my attention until he mentioned about it and a sudden realisation happened that there is a lot of buzz about start-up ecosystem in India. Each and every university whether government, autonomous or private claims to have in house incubation infrastructure to promote start up ecosystem. Governments are providing funds to the budding start-ups as everyone has understood its importance in nation building so each and every stakeholder wants to play its role right.

The video is about a solar powered camper van (made by the engineering students of Netherlands), demonstrating its functioning with the usage of solar power and electric power as an alternative source of power in case of unavailability of solar power. Right now a lot of discussions have started on electric vehicles as the reality of near future but still initial glitches needs to be addressed before it becomes the reality. At this time, thinking about a solar powered vehicles on the roads seem to be a far stretched/fetched dream. But think what if it happens one day, especially in the country like India. India is more than blessed as far as solar energy is concerned as we have an average of 300 sunny days a year, therefore India theoretically provides five trillion kilowatt-hours of clean and renewable solar power available every year across its length and breadth – enough to electrify the nation dozens of times over. With this type of technology, we don’t need to produce electricity for the vehicles but vehicles themselves can produce the electricity for their own consumption. That will solve the issue of creating infrastructure for electric vehicles such as charging stations. This solar powered camper van can be proved a food for thought for the future start –ups of India to invent an indigenous technology that could make it a reality that to at an affordable price (very crucial aspect) as this camper van is exorbitantly expensive. With this thought, I would like to attract attention of all the innovators, businessmen, governments across the globe, come together and jointly invent a technology which is effective and cost efficient that would be the probable solution of numerous environmental issues of the world.

The video which caught my attention is also attached here, please watch this and applause the efforts of the engineering students of Netherlands. Post your comments here for further discussion on this.
